It’s the first weekend for the new USS Beloit.
The Navy is planning to launch the new shop from the docks in Marinette over the weekend. The new Freedom Class ship is just part of the tie between the Navy and the city of Beloit that goes back 100 years. Fairbanks Morse Defense is based in Beloit, and makes engines for many of the Navy’s ships. After Saturday’s launch, the new USS Beloit will head out for tests before joining the fleet.
