A Community Mourns, Investigation Continues

Police in Chippewa Falls continue the search for a suspect in the murder of a ten-year-old girl, whose body was found yesterday morning in a wooded area near Duncan Creek Trail.

The girl — Iliana Peters, otherwise known as Lily — was reported missing by her father Sunday night.  She attended the fourth grade at Parkview Elementary School.  Police have not yet released any details about the cause of death.

They warn that because no suspect is in custody yet, residents should be especially cautious.  There was a vigil held last night in Lily’s memory at a Chippewa Falls church.

As we await updates, officials with Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District are urging parents to pick up and drop off their children and say teachers and staff at Parkway Elementary are on high alert.

A bigger police presence has been requested at the school and in the nearby neighborhood.  A tipline has been set up if you have any information:  1-800-263-5906.
