There are now OWI charges for the now-former school bus driver in Green Bay who drank a beer on a school field trip.
Prosecutors in Green Bay filed the charges yesterday. Seventy-year-old James Nelson admitted to drinking a beer or two while students from a Green Bay elementary school were on a field trip to Madison. A student turned him in after seeing an empty beer can on the bus. Green Bay Police arrested Nelson, and drew his blood on suspicion of drunk driving. Wisconsin law bans anyone with a CDL from having any alcohol in their system while driving.
Prosecutors say Nelson’s blood-alcohol-level was under point-oh-eight, but above zero.
