Plan Focuses on Clean Energy For the Dairy State

Governor Evers’ climate change plan would mean huge changes for where Wisconsin gets its electricity. The governor yesterday released his Clean Energy Plan.

The proposal would boost investment in solar and wind projects, push more people toward electric cars, and aims to have the state carbon neutral by 2050. But accomplishing that may be difficult. Wisconsin gets just over 40 percent of its electricity from coal, and another 35 percent from natural gas. The governor’s report says just over four percent of the state’s electricity comes from non-hydro powered renewables like wind and solar.
