A Milwaukee man who lied to police about the gun used in the accidental shooting of his five-year-old son will serve probation, not jail time in the case.
A judge yesterday sentenced Joseph Salinas to three years of probation for the shooting in August of 2018. The boy survived. Salinas pleaded guilty to carrying a pistol without a concealed carry license. He told police he was asleep when his then-five-year-old climbed a cabinet and found his 357 Magnum. When police went back to his home to check on the scene, they realized Salinas had the gun in his pocket and not on his cabinet like he claimed.
