Wisconsin could get an answer about its effort to regulate so-called forever chemicals today.
A judge in Waukesha is expected to rule on whether the state’s Department of Natural Resources has the authority to force companies to pay for the clean-up of PFAS chemicals. Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and an Oconomowoc dry cleaner say because there are no formal state laws or DNR rules for PFAS chemicals, any attempt to regulate them is out of bounds.
Environmentalists argue that there is a pressing need to deal with PFAS chemicals, and want the judge to allow the regulations to stand.
