There continues to be confusion about absentee ballots ahead of next week’s election.
Different communities are handling the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s recent ruling on returning absentee ballots differently. Part of the confusion comes from a letter from the League of Wisconsin Municipalities that warned not accepting ballots from non-voters could be a civil rights violation. Milwaukee Elections Commission director Claire Woodall-Vogg yesterday said they do not check IDs when voters return ballots, and will continue to allow people to return absentee ballots for other voters.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled back in February that voters can only deliver their own ballot to the polling place or clerk’s office.
