Honoring Our Vietnam Veterans, WI Lawmakers Connect for Local Project

Vietnam veterans and their families are being honored on this #NationalVietnamWarVeteransDay. The date, March 29th, was chosen because it was on this day back in 1973 that the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam.

Here locally, our lawmakers come together for the same vision. Below is the letter written to Governor Tony Evers requesting that a local project move forward.

Dear Governor Evers:

Wisconsin has a strong military heritage and is home to thousands of veterans who have served our country. Wisconsin has approximately 330,000 veterans and only three veteran homes exist to serve their needs. These men and women gave selflessly to our country, and it is necessary that we are able to do the same for them.

We formally request that all dollars that the state receives from the sale of the 89 acres of land currently owned by the Northern Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Chippewa Falls go towards a new 72-bed veterans home. This is a unique opportunity for the state to not only help rural communities but also those who served our country with loyalty and devotion.

Please allocate these dollars to the hardworking veterans of northern Wisconsin.

Sincerely,
