Crews Respond to House Fire

Crews from five departments took about an hour to bring a fire under control at a home near Cadott yesterday that was said to have started while making maple syrup.  Fire officials say the blaze at the home on 45th Avenue in the town of Lafayette  began about three o-clock and was under control within an hour.  No one was hurt in the fire.

On that note, Eau Claire firefighters are on track to set a record for the number of calls in a year.

Last week, the department had received 21-hundred-68 calls for service.  Last year, local firefighters answered 98-hundred calls.  Deputy Chief of EMS for Eau Claire — Jon Schultz — says they’re able to stay on top of their calls, thanks to their personnel and their dispatch team.
