UW System President Plans UWEC Visit

UW System President Tommy Thompson will visit UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday.

He is expected in our area as campus and community leaders join faculty, staff and students to celebrate the former governor’s leadership and service. President Thompson will also help Blugolds take the first steps toward the planned Science and Health Sciences Building, a $256 million project that will one day replace the university’s Phillips Hall, which was opened in 1963.

President Thompson, Chancellor James Schmidt and invited guests will get a chance to swing sledgehammers at the corner of Putnam Hall, one of two residence hall buildings that will be razed this summer to make way for the Science and Health Sciences Building.
