According to the National Safety Council’s Injury Facts page on hot car deaths, 25 children died from a hot car death in 2020 and on average, 38 children under the age of 15 die each year from heatstroke after being left in a vehicle.
Pop-A-Lock, an Eau Claire County locksmith company, created PAL Saves Kids, a free service that helps save kids who have been locked in a car. In 2021 alone, Pop-A-Lock unlocked and saved almost 8,000 kids that were accidently locked in vehicles.
In addition to the PAL Saves Kids service, Pop-A-Lock has also partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help bring awareness to childhood cancer. They are currently auctioning off a 1969 Corvette Stingray for the cause.
Overall, PAL has raised almost $700,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over the years.
