Lawmakers in Wisconsin can hire outside lawyers, and pay for them with state money.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court yesterday ruled that lawmakers can turn to lawyers not already on the state payroll. The ruling came as part of a challenge to Wisconsin’s to-be drawn political map. Republican lawmakers hired lawyers to help with their map, and wanted to use taxpayer dollars to pay for them.
