On January 24, 2022, Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched for smoke coming from a trailer at Frey Court.
At the time, it was unknown if the occupant was out of the structure. Responders on scene were met with thick, black smoke was coming from the structure. An immediate attempt was made to check for occupants, but then they had to back out due to the smoke conditions.
Within 2 minutes of entry, the fire was knocked down and the entry crew requested ventilation operations to clear the smoke from the structure. As smoke conditions improved inside the residence, the initial attack crew found a victim laying on the floor. The attack crew checked on the victim and found him to be deceased. The attack crew checked for fire extension, ensured the fire was extinguished, and began securing the scene.
Fire investigators from Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department and Marshfield Police Department responded to the scene to begin the fire investigation. The fire is currently still under investigation and origin and cause of the fire is not known at this time.
Preliminary estimate on damage is $15,000 to the structure and $10,000 to contents.
