Democrats at the Wisconsin Capitol say more money is the solution to the state’s spike in crime.
Democratic lawmakers yesterday asked for a 30 million-dollar increase in state money that’s shared with cities and counties. The lawmakers say that will help local governments pay for more public safety measures. The Democrats also want to create some new public safety grant programs.
Their package does not mention Milwaukee’s record-setting year for homicides or stolen cars, or the effort in Wisconsin to change the state’s bail system to keep some criminals behind bars.
