As we hear changes made to advice given about testing, quarantine, and beyond many are confused about what to do.
The CDC insists its updated guidance that shortens recommended quarantine time is backed by science. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky was pressed on the Today show whether she is sending “mixed messages.”
Previously, those who tested positive for Covid-19 were instructed to isolate for 10 days, but now cut to five, followed by five days of wearing a mask around others. Walensky said the CDC took into account that vaccinated individuals with milder symptoms from the omicron variant may not be willing to quarantine for a full 10 days.
Here locally, a change has been made.
Mayo Hospitals are banning cloth face masks for visitors. The hospital system yesterday said cloth face masks do not provide enough protection. Mayo instead wants people to wear surgical or procedural masks, or an N95 or a KN95 mask. Hospital managers say people will be given a mask when they check-in.
