Two men are facing multiple charges after Officers responded to calls of suspicious activity. Below is the press release from Lake Hallie authorities:
On December 26, 2021, at approximately 8:15 PM, a Lake Hallie Police Officer was dispatched to the Wisconsin Auto Auction, 3272 County Highway P, Lake Hallie for subjects walking around with flashlights. Approximately one minute later, the Officer observed a burgundy jeep leaving the parking lot and stopped the vehicle a short distance later then contacted the two male persons inside the vehicle.
Another Lake Hallie Officer responded to assist and while speaking with the two individuals, officers observed what appeared to be power tools commonly used to cut catalytic converters on the front passenger floorboard and a freshly cut catalytic converter under a camouflaged jacket in the backseat.
The subjects were identified as Ryan Daniel Deveau (29, from Eau Claire) and Timothy Donald Cox (age 35, from Eau Claire) and both were placed under arrest. In addition to the catalytic converter and the power tools, a search of the vehicle revealed a pair of brake pads that appeared to be in new condition, two black ski masks both with a headlamp around them, a white Hart brand reciprocating saw, a small black vehicle jack, a tan Carhartt style vest, a Dewalt battery charger, a pair of hunting style gloves, and a LED multicolor changing interior car light which all were reported stolen.
In addition, a suspected Methamphetamine pipe was seized from the vehicle. Deveau was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine Paraphernalia, two counts of Criminal Damage to Property, three counts of Theft from Motor Vehicle, two counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping and eight counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
Cox was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine Paraphernalia, two counts of Criminal Damage to Property, three counts of Theft from Motor Vehicle and a probation violation hold was placed. Both Deveau and Cox were transported to the Chippewa County Jail.
