Wisconsin’s Supreme Court is promising to leave the state’s political map largely unchanged.
The court ruled 4-3 yesterday that it is going with the ‘least-change approach’ to the state’s new political map. Democrats in Wisconsin have complained that the Republican-drawn map is gerrymandered, and gives Republicans too strong of an advantage in statehouse and Congressional seats. Republicans say their map reflects the reality that Democratic voters are largely centered in Milwaukee and Madison. The court fight is not over, however, Democratic leaders and advocates are asking the federal court to draw Wisconsin’s new political map instead.
