Governor Tony Evers is encouraging everyone to support local businesses and ‘Shop Small Wisconsin’ Nov. 27-Dec. 31.
Members of Gov. Evers’ cabinet will be shopping at locally owned businesses in communities throughout the state Saturday to explain how shopping locally supports the entire community. Many of the businesses that will be visited received Main Street Bounceback grants and are celebrating their first holiday seasons in their new space.
The Main Street Bounceback grant program, which runs through June 2022, offers $10,000 grants to businesses and nonprofits that move into or expand into a currently vacant Wisconsin commercial property. Since August, more than 1,000 locally owned businesses have moved into brick-and-mortar storefronts across the state. The new businesses include everything from art galleries to restaurants and toy shops.
For those who don’t want to leave the comfort of home to shop, WEDC has created a guide to Wisconsin’s unique small businesses with links that allow for online shopping. Go to: mainstreetwi.com.
