The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the number of deer harvested during the opening weekend of the gun deer hunt is about 14-percent lower then opening weekend last year.

The DNR says hunters bagged nearly 86-thousand deer this past weekend which is about 14-thousand fewer than in 2020. There were about four-thousand fewer bucks registered on opening weekend this year. The DNR says sales for all deer licenses are down about one-and-a-half-percent from last year.
