Wisconsin saw the worst of what the CDC is calling a backyard salmonella outbreak.
The agency released its report into the outbreak yesterday. Nationally, over a thousand people got sick and two died. In Wisconsin, 73 people got sick. That’s the most illnesses in the country. The CDC says the outbreak was traced back to the increase in the number of people keeping chickens and other birds in their backyard. There were illnesses reported in every state except Alaska and Delaware.
