Plans for the Cannery District are taking a step forward.
The Eau Claire Redevelopment Authority on Wednesday finalized an agreement with a local developer to build two, 130-unit apartment buildings in the area along the river. The project has a 58 million-dollar price tag, and Eau Claire will likely kick-in five million-dollars in tax breaks to make it happen.
Local leaders hope some of the new apartments qualify as affordable housing.
