Hundreds of Wisconsin National Guard troops are ready to move into Kenosha as soon as they get the call.
Governor Evers on Friday placed 500 soldiers on standby ahead of a verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. Closing arguments are today, and the jury could get the case by the end of the day. The governor says the troops are there to support local law enforcement in Kenosha.
The governor also sent 500 National Guard troops to Kenosha in the summer of 2020 to deal with the violence that grew out of the protests from Jacob Blake’s shooting.
