The Salvation Army of Dane County is getting a boost to the start of this year’s Red Kettle Campaign after an anonymous donor donated a gold coin worth two-thousand dollars.

The man went into Metcalfe’s Market Friday and handed over a 20-dollar 1924 gold eagle coin. The organization is looking to raise more than half-a-million dollars this year for shelters and other programs. They’re also looking for nine-thousand volunteers to ring the iconic bells.
