The latest proposal for Wisconsin’s political map would continue to leave Republicans in charge of the state legislature.
The People’s Map Commission released its map recommendations yesterday. The map would shift 12 Assembly seats from Republican to Democrat, and would shift one Senate seat as well. The result would still be a Republican majority in Madison, but it would be a smaller majority. Governor Evers likes the People’s Map, but it’s just a proposal. Republican lawmakers have approved a map of their own. The governor says he won’t sign that map, which means a court will likely draw the state’s new political map in the coming months.
