A virus proven deadly to Largemouth bass has been detected in Smallmouth bass in the Bay of Green Bay.
The Wisconsin DNR confirms 14 Smallmouth bass were collected from the bay near Door County in September and were found to have similar symptoms of the virus that infects Largemouth bass. In order to stop the spread of the virus, the DNR asks that boaters drain all water from their vessels, motors and all equipment and to not move live fish away from a waterbody. Officials also asked that anglers report any Smallmouth bass with skin lesions or dead or dying fish.
