One of Green Bay’s state lawmakers wants to end the special taxing district that pays for Lambeau Field.
State Rep David Steffen yesterday introduced a plan that would shift maintenance of the stadium to the city of Green Bay. With that responsibility, Green Bay would also get the millions of dollars in taxes that the Lambeau Field Stadium District currently collects. Steffen says that’d mean at least 18 million-dollars for Green Bay. Homeowners in and around Brown County could see another 45 million in refunds. Green Bay’s mayor says he wants to see the specifics. The Packers and leaders in Ashwaubenon want to keep the taxing district in place.
