A head on collision turns deadly in Chippewa County.
A vehicle southbound on Hwy 178 near 151st street was struck head-on by a northbound vehicle.
Initial on-scene evidence shows the northbound vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and drifted into the path of the southbound vehicle. The driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene. Both occupants of the northbound vehicle were transported by ambulance to Mayo Hospital – Luther Campus, Eau Claire, for injuries sustained from the crash.
Hwy 178 was closed for an extended period of time as a result of the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
