It’s been a year since police found a former UW-Madison student dead at Devil’s Lake State Park.
Investigators yesterday said they are not giving-up on finding 24-year-old John Schmutzer’s killer. He was stabbed to death in what police are calling a random killing. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve taken DNA samples from eight possible suspects, two have been cleared and they are waiting for results on the other six. Investigators say they have not forgotten Schmutzer, and are promising to bring his killer to justice.
