It’s a vaccination milestone in Chippewa County.
Public health managers yesterday said 50-percent of people in the county are now fully vaccinated. County public health director Angela Wiedeman says it’s great to hit the mark, but she says more people need to get their shots. Wiedeman says people continue to test positive for the virus.
In other vaccination arenas, nearly 85-percent of the people who work at Gunderson Health System in La Crosse are vaccinated against the coronavirus.
But it’s the other 15-percent that have managers worried. A number of nurses and other hospital workers are organizing against Gunderson’s vaccine mandate. They say they want to make their own choices. Gunderson has told workers they need to be vaccinated by November 1st.
