Sex Offender to be Released in Chippewa Co.

Local authorties are notifying the public of a sex offender being released.

Upon release he does not have a residence and is listed as homeless.

Release Date: October 19th 2021

Offense(s):

July 10th 2012: 3rd Degree Sexual Assault-Chippewa County Conviction

March 12th 2013: 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child-Trempealeau County Conviction

The Chippewa County Sex Offender Notification Committee has determined that a Level III notification would be undertaken in regard to the community placement of convicted sex offender Gerald R. Obernberger who will be released from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections on October 19th 2021.

Gerald R. Obernberger will return to Chippewa County where he is required to live. At this time the Department of Corrections does not have a permanent address for Gerald R. Obernberger and will consider him homeless once released.  

Gerald R. Obernberger has two convictions of sexual assault crimes in Chippewa County and Trempealeau County. Gerald R. Obernberger also has convictions in Chippewa County including Burglary, and carrying a Concealed Knife. Gerald R. Obernberger has served the majority of time imposed on him by the courts and will be supervised by the

Department of Corrections until October 28th 2028. Gerald R. Obernberger’s conditions of supervision will prohibit him from any unsupervised contact with minors; no contact with his victims and not to consume drugs.  Gerald R. Obernberger is restricted from being on the property of any schools, parks or day care centers. Gerald R. Obernberger is to comply with standard sex offender rules/requirements; GPS monitoring; face-to-face contact with Law Enforcement requirement; and a lifetime registrant of WI Sex Offender Registration Program.
