Restaurants in Madison lost twice as many workers during the worst of the coronavirus outbreak than restaurants across the rest of the state.
The Wisconsin Restaurant Association’s Kristine Hillmer says Madison imposed strict limits on bars and restaurants, they were limited to just 25 percent of their capacity. As a result, Hillmer says Madison lost 44 percent of its restaurant staff. Statewide that number was just 22 percent. Hillmer says some of those people have gone back to work, but not all.
