Some of the 13-thousand refugees at the base say they are having trouble getting halal meals and worry that some of the clothes that are being donated are not ‘culturally competent.’ UW-Eau Claire history professor Dr. Selika Ducksworth-Lawton says people in Wisconsin need to remember that the Afghan culture is much different than what people here are used to. She says cultural disconnects can lead to problems.
