It looks like Milwaukee’s next police chief is already on the job.
The city’s Fire and Police Commission yesterday unanimously voted to ask acting Police Chief Jeffery Norman to be the only person to apply for the permanent job. Norman has been acting chief since December. FPC commissioners have made it clear for months that they want him to be the next chief, but his promotion was delayed because of the lawsuit over former chief Alfonso Morales’ firing. The FPC is expected to interview Norman, then vote to make him chief. But no one is saying when that will happen.
