The Eau Claire Fire Department (ECFD) responded to an early morning fire on the city’s West side. This incident occurred as a significant weather event was impacting the city, resulting in multiple power lines down and other wind related damage.
ECFD crews quickly made entry into the structure and located fire and smoke in the basement level of the residence. All occupants had evacuated prior to fire crews arriving. The incident was quickly brought under control as the residence was searched and ventilated by additional crews on the scene. One minor injury to a firefighter was reported on scene.
The weather event resulted in ECFD crews responding to numerous calls for service throughout the city during the morning and midday hours.
