It has been one year since Kenosha, Wisconsin was put on the national stage with the shooting of Jacob Blake.
On August 23rd, 2020 an officer shot Blake after he fought with police, pulled out a knife, and tried to speed away in his ex-girlfriend’s SUV. Video of the shooting instantly sparked protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and the rest of the country. Those protests would turn violent in Kenosha, eventually leading to riots, fires, and the shooting death of two people. Blake’s family hosted a rally on Saturday to remember his shooting.
Blake spoke by phone and said people need to ‘have hope.’
