Tribal Nations Offer Vaccine Incentives

The Oneida Nation is offering cash to get tribal members vaccinated.

The tribe yesterday said it is offering 500-dollar sweeteners to anyone 14 and older who gets a shot. Just under 30-thousand tribal members in the state have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine, which is about 37-percent of Wisconsin’s native population. Oneida’s health director, Debbie Danforth, says people have to get both doses of the vaccine in order to qualify for the 500 dollars.

And they aren’t alone. Add the Ho-Chunk Nation to the list of people offering coronavirus vaccine incentives.

The tribe yesterday said it is offering 500 dollars to any tribal members, or people who work at their casinos, if they get both doses of the coronavirus vaccine. The state says just under 30-thousand tribal members in the state have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine, which is about 37-percent of Wisconsin’s native population.
