Being an unruly passenger on an airplane comes with a steep cost.
The FAA is proposing more than half-a-million dollars in fines against almost three dozen passengers. Most of the fines are for passengers not wearing a mask. That policy is mandated by the federal government while anybody is on an airplane. Other incidents involve passengers drinking alcohol they brought onto the plane. Only alcohol offered by airlines is allowed on board and some airlines have stopped those sales altogether.
American and Southwest already don’t allow alcohol to be purchased on board as long as the mask mandate is in place.
