Younger kids in Eau Claire schools will have to wear masks this year, despite the pushback from their parents.
About 100 parents showed-up at last night’s school board meeting, many of them to argue against the schools’ mask requirement. Eau Claire schools last week changed their mind and ordered that kids from pre-k through eighth grade will have to mask-up this year. High schoolers will have a choice. Many of the parents last night said masks do more harm than good, particularly for young kids.
The discussion continues around our state. For example, add Racine to the list of schools in southeast Wisconsin requiring masks this fall.
The city’s school board voted 6-3 last night to require all students, teachers, school workers, and visitors to wear masks inside all school buildings in the city. About a dozen parents showed-up to argue against masking kids up. Superintendent Eric Gallien says the mask rules could change if the coronavirus numbers in Racine change as well.
