Governor Tony Evers is putting the brakes on legislation passed by Republicans he says is designed to create more hurdles to voting.
The governor says Republican-controlled states and legislatures across the country are taking up similar measures to try to discredit the work of election officials and cast doubt on the results of the 2020 presidential election. Today, the governor vetoed six Senate bills and one Assembly bill. The restrictions include limiting events that help citizens return absentee ballots and prohibiting clerks from correcting minor errors such as adding a zip code.
