It will likely take some time, but a flood of evictions are coming to Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin.
The CDC’s ban on evictions ended Sunday, it had been in place since last September. Milwaukee County judge William Pocan says it could take a few weeks or a month before the eviction filings come pouring in, but he says they will come pouring in. There are millions of dollars available for rental assistance, but not everyone filled-out an application, and not all of those applications were correct or completed.
Advocates say as many as 160 thousand people across Wisconsin face an eviction.
