More nurses could be seeing more patients across Wisconsin under one of the latest plans at the state Capitol.
A Senate panel yesterday listened to hours of testimony on a plan to give advanced practice nurses more freedom and more authority. The idea is to allow APRNs, as they are known, to work without the direct supervision of a doctor and to allow them to prescribe medicine. Nurses say it’s a way to give patients more healthcare options. Some of the state’s doctor’s groups worry it’ll push doctors aside.
