The technical colleges in Madison and Milwaukee are using some of their coronavirus stimulus money to pay-off past due tuition costs.
Milwaukee Area Technical College says it will spend nearly six-million-dollars to wipe out student debt. Madison Area Technical College last week said it would spend four-million-dollars of its stimulus money on the same thing. The money is only for costs for students who took classes in 2020 and 2021, and it doesn’t do anything to any student loans that students took out. MATC says seven-thousand students will see some relief, while Madison College managers say about four-thousand students will have their bills erased.
