The Wisconsin Court of Appeals is denying Steve Avery’s request for an evidentiary hearing or a new trial in connection with the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.
Avery, who was featured on the Netflix docuseries Making a Murderer, is serving a life sentence for her killing. The judges ruled today that Avery wasn’t entitled to any of his motions because there was no error by the lower court when it used its discretion to deny motions to vacate and for reconsideration. Avery’s lawyer said she is not deterred by the decision and she plans to continue to fight for Avery’s freedom.
