At 9:30 AM on Tuesday July 20, 2021 a crash occurred on US 53 NB at approximately 1/10 of mile
north of North Boundary Road in DOUGLAS County near SOLON SPRINGS.
The crash involved a fatality and an injury.
WI State Patrol Troopers and Douglas County Deputies responded to a crash on Highway 53 northbound approximately 1/10 of a mile north of North Boundary Road. A Douglas County Highway Department worker, 22 year old Erika Olson, was performing mowing operations in a tractor while driving northbound on Highway 53.
A male driver in a pickup truck, 66 year old Steven Sinder from Rice Lake was also traveling north on Highway 53 and struck the rear of the tractor. The driver of the pickup truck did not survive the crash. The highway department worker had minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation
