Ten digit phone numbers are expanding in Wisconsin.
Beginning in late October all Wisconsin residents will need to dial ten digit numbers to connect to local and long-distance calls. That’s because the FCC approved a three digit dialing code of 9-8-8 for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Wisconsin residents in the 543 and 715 area codes already have the ten-digit requirement so the change will come for those customers with 262, 414, 608 and 920 area codes.
