The huge ice chunk that fell out of the sky and into an Elk Mound home has scientists at UW-Eau Claire stumped.
A team is looking to see just what is inside the 12-pound piece of ice that crashed through a couple’s roof last month. The piece of ice is called a megacryometeor. But no one knows just where it came from. The UW-EC team says they think it came from the upper atmosphere, but they are not sure where or how it was formed.
