There’s now a call to send troops to Milwaukee to try and get a handle on the city’s violent crime problem.
State Rep. Joe Sanfelippo yesterday said Milwaukee is ‘war zone-like,’ and said local leaders have failed to keep people safe. Sanfelippo’s suggestion comes after a weekend where nearly 20 people were shot and five people were killed. Governor Tony Evers immediately dismissed Sanfelippo’s call, saying it’s not the National Guard’s job to patrol Milwaukee.
The governor said more mental health and violence prevention money would be a better solution.
