Wisconsin’s public health managers hope to hit President Biden’s Fourth of July vaccine goal.
Department of Health Services Deputy Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk yesterday said it’s likely that 70-percent of adults in the state will have at least one dose of the vaccine by July 4th. Willems Van Dijk yesterday said right now, about 63-percent of adults in the state have gotten a shot. Nothing is guaranteed though. Willems Van Dijk said vaccination numbers in the state have steadily been falling since their peak in early April. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM WI DHS.
When it comes to who is getting the shot here, we know have a snapshot.
Most of the people who’ve gotten the coronavirus shot in Wisconsin are older and white. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said 45- percent of the state’s white population has gotten a shot. That compares to under 25-percent of Black people in the state. More than 46-percent of Wisconsin’s Asian population has gotten the vaccine, but there are fewer Asians than whites in the state.
As has been the case since January, older folks are also more vaccinated. Over 83- percent of people 65-plus have gotten a shot, compared to under 40-percent of 18- to 24-year-olds.
