Tony Evers says Democrats need to hold-on to the governor’s office in order to protect the veto pen.
Evers formally announced his re-election bid at the Democrats’ virtual state convention on Saturday. Evers narrowly defeated former Governor Scott Walker back in 2018. There is no clear Republican frontrunner just yet. Evers says he is the ‘real education governor’ and is promising to spend more on schools and roads if elected once again. Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes has not yet said if he plans to run again, or if he will try and run for something else like U.S. Senate.
