Fewer Americans are applying for first-time unemployment benefits as the labor market continues to recover.
Numbers out today from the Labor Department show 385-thousand applications received last week. That’s down from the previous week’s 406-thousand. It’s also better than the 393-thousand most analysts had been expecting. What’s equally important is that initial jobless claims have now dipped below 400-thousand for the first time since the very early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
